Tanha Dil ...Tanha Safar...

Part-1 :

It's been about two weeks since I reached IIT Roorkee, and I haven't done a single post. So just to start off the 'Roorkee chapter' on my blog...here I am posting something different...travelogue...hmmm... u may call it so as this post is a description of the journey from home to this place.

It was 23rd July, a sweaty summer afternoon at my hometown Bokaro.I was to board my train(Howrah - Jammu Tawi) from Dhanbad which is about 1-1.5 hrs drive away...had booked a taxi and it reached my home at around 2'O clock...and as usual I hadn't finished all the packing....so we (baba was accompanying me till Dhanbad), started off at around 2:20 pm ...amidst sparse, but hard hitting water drops of a typical monsoon shower(it started raining just when we began loading the taxi)...The downpour was a great relief .... the ride was also good.Reached Dhanbad railway station well in time. The scheduled departure was at 5:15.So had to spend a lot of time at the platform doing nothing but just getting bored...and off course keeping an eye on the heavy luggage I was carrying - 7 packets in all..including my desktop and my guitar...and the bags were painfully heavy...stuffed with clothes, books, printouts....and what not...I had already paid about Rs 270 to the coolies at Bangalore and Bokaro for it.Here too, we had to settle for 100...(the coolie would place the luggage into the coach on the train's arrival). There was a sardarji around at the station...he was an employee of the BCCL a govt enterprise for coal, mines etc) he began speaking with baba...."Is desh ka kya hoga" talks..he was frustrated with the state o affairs at the company..the way the new joinees work, their lack of expertise and their attitude towards work and older subordinates, money wasted for training engineers abroad, import of costly machines which remain idle at the sites, corruption etc etc.I felt bad too...and made some general comments...

My train was late...So had to keep waiting...Then to my surprise, just a few minutes before the arrival of the train, I discovered that the guitar bag had got wet. There was a small opening at the platform's tin roof, and rainwater had been dripping over it since the time it was kept there, but the process was pretty slow and not noticeable...had to take the guitar out...(Oh!!! at that time ...so many eyes were on me as if I was going to stage a live 'platform concert' hahaha..... anyway wiped it with towel and stuffed some newspaper sheets inside the bag that absorbed quite a bit of the moisture)My train finally arrived at around 6' O Clock..Will tell the rest of the story sometime later...[:D].
